Our October featured artist is Patty Picco whose mixed media paintings, prints and encaustic pieces always delight visitors to the gallery.
Patty considers herself a "Layerist". Starting with subtle textures of monotype or her own photographs, she combines paint with her own hand-painted papers, and then continues the process with encaustic painting, using a mixture of beeswax, damar resin for hardening and pure pigment for color. At each step in the process she pays special attention to the mood she wants to convey. Her inspiration comes from experiencing nature where she gains a deep appreciation for the energy we share.
Patty will be at Penn Cove Gallery on Monday, October 17, with the tools and explanations of her art work. It's a great time to stop in, talk with her about her techniques, and view her latest pieces.
