Patty Picco - Artist of the Month

9/4/2018

Encaustic artist, Patty Picco, will be at Penn Cove Gallery on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 10am to 5pm, with tools of her trade. Patty considers herself a “Layerist”. Her work starts with the subtle textures of monotype prints or her own photographs. She may combine paint with her own hand-painted papers, paying special attention to the mood she is trying to convey. She continues the layering process with the addition of encaustic painting, using a mixture of beeswax, damar resin for hardening  and pure pigment for color. Her inspiration comes from experiencing nature where she gains a deep appreciation for the energy we share.
