Marcy Johnson is Penn Cove Gallery's December Featured Artist

12/1/2015

PictureArtist Marcy Johnson.
Marcy Johnson - weaver, jewelry maker and teacher - is Penn Cove Gallery's Featured Artist in December.  Marcy designs, spins yarn and produces woven artwork including woven scarves, blankets, rugs and more. She also makes hammered metal jewelry decorated with beads, wire and waxed linen.

Marcy's work reflects her extensive travel and research into ethnic cultures and fiber techniques. Her travels, which have focused on her fiber art skills of weaving, paper making and basketry, have led her to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Hawaii, Guatemala, South America, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Japan, China, England and throughout Europe.

Marcy has designed and produced a line of woven scarves, blankets, baskets, books and hand-pounded, ethnic-inspired jewelry. She has participated for over 30 years in regional and international exhibits.  She is also the creator, owner and operator of Weaving Works in Seattle, a retail store providing equipment, supplies and classes for hand weavers, knitters, basket and paper makers, bookbinders and others since 1974.

Marcy will be at Penn Cove Gallery on Thursday, December 17, from 10 AM to 7 PM with her spinning wheel so don't miss this opportunity to see this master weaver in action and learn more about her techniques and influences.
