February Featured Artist -- John Olsen

2/2/2021

Penn Cove Gallery features photographer John Olsen in February. Olsen carries on the traditions of B&W film photography and has been shooting here on Whidbey since 2007. He says "I am drawn to B&W photography using film and darkroom printing techniques, because I feel the results are more expressive of my own personal effort. I like the demanding authority of a heavy camera, and the finality of committing to a piece of film, even when it’s the last in my bag. Printing in my darkroom, with all of its chemical and technical mess, is a satisfying challenge for me."
