Professional woodworker, custom furniture maker and woodworking artist Gary Leake is our Featured Artist for the month of March. Gary's passion is to search the countryside for a special, one-of-a-kind piece of timber and turn it into a unique, finely engineered, beautiful piece of furniture which is a true work of art.
Gary credits his grandfather with nurturing what has become a keen appreciation for all things wooden. Many of Gary’s antique woodworking tools and skills were inherited from this wonderfully patient master cabinet-maker. Thus, his technique is influenced by methods and styles of earlier times, using antique woodworking tools and skills.
Shown at left is "Maple Fantastic”. A rare piece of live-edge bigleaf maple burl drove the design of this lovely table. According to Gary, "Although I have created and sold hundreds of pieces, I have my favorites and this is one!"
We invite you to make a point of stopping into the gallery on Saturday, March 26th, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when Gary will be in the gallery with some of his woodworking tools.
