Stacey Neumiller

Stacey Neumiller originally hails from New Jersey where she grew up drawing and riding backyard horses and ponies. After relocating to the West coast, she pursued her desire to work in the field of art by attending California State University Chico where she earned a degree in graphic design with an emphasis on illustration. After a 30+ year graphic design career, she now devotes her time to fine art.

The world of whimsy is the focus of Stacey’s current work. Working with oils, she creates paintings that tell playful, fanciful tales. A cow that whistles show tunes, a stamp-collecting snail, a chef whose restaurant is located in a large pumpkin, an orca competing in a leaping contest, and a giant sheep being groomed by her minuscule caretakers are just some of the subjects Stacey likes to paint. She finds joy in creating a fantastical world filled with color and humor.
“Sometimes it’s the design of the painting that comes to me first. Other times, I write a story in my head and then use the painting to illustrate it,” says Stacey. “In either case, I develop a written story, poem or anecdote that accompanies each painting. I tuck them into a small envelope and adhere them to the back of the painting. You could call them their ‘Back Stories’”.

Stacey lives with her husband Paul on beautiful Whidbey island in Washington state. When she’s not in the studio painting or writing, she enjoys walking her dogs, playing with her grandson, Julian and riding her pony Butters.
