April at Penn Cove Gallery

4/1/2025

Our Featured Artist is Jim Short. Jim is known for his use of found wood which is wood from fallen trees or those that have had to be cut down. He creates amazing wood vessels, bowls, and platters from species that grow on Whidbey Island. Some of his bowls can be used as vessels for food, others are purely decorative. They also make the best wedding gifts!

Penn Cove Gallery welcomes new member Ellen Rose. Her ceramic art features cool, soothing shades of blue and green.  Each piece is inspired by her love of the mountains, oceans, and wildlife that inhabit the Pacific Northwest and surrounding waters. Come see how she includes orcas, octopi, sea otters, seals, humpback whales, sea birds, and eagles in her work.

Kent Sanders is a retired teacher having taught in Hawaii and Alaska for 30 years. After his retirement he became interested in making jewelry and went to school in Portland. In time he developed a style which was influenced by his years teaching science and mathematics. Structure and function, kinetics, fluidity of metals all fascinate him and influence his art.
