Kent Sanders

After retiring from teaching the sciences and mathematics I went to jewelry school. I found that I enjoyed making things with my hands. Along the way I taught myself how to weld. In both teaching and making things, you constantly change your process, hopefully for the best. I realized that key ingredients in the sciences and math are also found in the making of beautiful art. Simplicity, kinetics, fluidity and natural curves are just a few of the key element that go into making my jewelry. The beauty in making jewelry is the focus it takes. An example of this is creating beach glass jewelry. I went from making simple sea glass earrings and necklaces to searching for campfire beach glass which was melted and reshaped by nature. Tumbling, drilling and adding stones to this unique glass is a process that gives me great joy!!!
