Anita W. Johnston - Oak Harbor, Washington Anita is known for her unique style of ink paintings, which she calls "split ink," and for her free approach in using more standard paints. She works in ink, acrylic, watercolor and oil but prefers liquid acrylic. Her love of nature and experimentation are combined in landscapes and other images with strong abstract elements. Some are completely free form designs in which she "follows the paint" instead of manipulating it into a pre-conceived image. Her work has earned several First Place Awards, two Best of Shows, a Special Award, and was selected for advertising one art show and an arts and crafts festival. In addition to being one of the founding members of this gallery, she is a member of two area art organizations, and has taught several workshops in the northwest.
